201223 Shut the door. Don't need a tree.

dec. 23

Yesterday, driving home from town.

Today, the sun will be out soon.                                     Blue sky and new snow.

https://youtu.be/Zm7Goz05MrU Van Morrison, I wanna roo you.

"Twenty-third of December

Covered in snow
You in the kitchen
With the lights way down low
I'm in the parlor playing my old guitar
Speaking to you, darling, to find out how you are
I wanna roo you, wanna get through to you
I wanna woo you, woo you tonight"

Snow, and being with someone you love: that is my Christmas wish to all. No wrapping, no ribbons, only firelight and chestnuts, a glass of wine, let's be "stranded for a week". There are photo albums and jigsaw puzzles, Christmas movies, recipes to try while the kitchen is uncrowded. When did that last happen on Christmas day?

"Snowstorm's on the way and we'll be stranded for a week
Come over to the window, look outside take a peek
And we can just sit here
Look at the fire
Watch the flames leaping higher and higher
Tea on the stove food in the pan
Ain't going nowhere and we don't have many plans
I want to roo you, want to get through to you
I want to woo you, woo you tonight"

It's time to stop shopping: go get your last minute needs and then shut the door on the commercial world. Pour a glass of wine for absent loved ones and drink to their health and happiness. Put on your favorite clothes that help you feel your best and contented self. Christmas robe, santa hat, little black dress (do women (or men) still wear these? Seems like years since we went to a Christmas party!); high heels or reindeer socks, you choose.

Don't need a turkey
Don't need a tree
Don't need a stocking
- well, not one for me!

Yours is a little one,
figs and and some wine
And strawberry twizzlers
And chocolate just fine.

Find last year's playlist
Open the sherry
Let's rest here now
And drink and be merry!

Covid day 288: Seems like a dream, seeing that number. A lot of days when nothing has been the same, nor ever will be again. That's all right. Tomorrow will be new. We will make it.

Breakfast feast: bacon, buttered toast and fried bread (in bacon fat) like my mother used to make when I was little. These clementines were the sourest ever so I warmed them and tossed them with honey. Still sour! but sweet too.

Thank you to everyone who visits. Take what suits you, leave what doesn't. Keep Well. Love to all.
